ICI
Brunch is hands down my favourite weekend ritual and ICI is one the best options in Brussels (check the rest of my favourite brunch spots in town right here). This lovely bio cantine – restaurant close to Brugmann square strikes perfectly the balance between healthy and indulgent food. But can we talk a minute about how gorgeous the decor is? The space was actually designed by the owners of ICI themselves and is a great blend of stylish and homey details: a big blackboard where all the different dishes are handwritten, mismatched light bulbs hanging from the ceiling, cosy cushions, retro floor tiles and a wooden cupboard full of foodie goodies to take home with you, including my favorite gluten-free Generous cookies (also available at AM Sweet, ICI, Farm, Rob’s, Peck 47, Pistolet Original and Mmmmh!), Marlette biscuits and Callas jam!
Now on to the food! If you’re here for lunch there are quite a few options ranging from healthy salads (quinoa, lentils and veggies that can be combined with fish or beef) but also sandwiches (the foie gras croque is my favourite!) and a special dish of the day. Sundays are dedicated to brunch, where you can opt either for the big or small fixed menu. If you’re hungry, go for the “big brunch” which is a true feast, not to mention the perfect cure for a hangover! The menu includes a warm drink, freshly squeezed orange juice, a basket full of different kinds of bread, butter and homemade jam, a croissant, a pain au chocolat, a fried egg, a cream cheese and salmon bagel, a small beetroot salad, guacamole and bacon, bio yoghurt with fresh strawberries, a pancake with maple syrup and a pudding. A very rich meal for around 23€ – more than fair if you ask me considering the amount and quality of food.
ICI offers breakfast and lunch on weekdays and Saturdays but brunch is only available on Sundays. Make sure to make a reservation before you arrive, especially on weekends, as this spot is quite popular!
