PECK 47
I spotted Peck 47 a few days ago after a very long walk in the centre of Brussels. I was famished and started looking for a nice place to enjoy a cup of coffee when faced with a great dilemma: “Cake or death?! Or a sandwich?”. It was right then and there I decided that I simply had to try this place!
Peck 47 is a cafe that also serves food throughout the day. The space is small yet very welcoming and full of cute details, including a funny wallpaper inspired by the cafe’s location, i.e. the Rue du Marché aux Poulets / Kienkenmarkt, where the chicken market was held back in the 16th century. On the menu homemade sandwiches, soups, eggs, lavender infused homemade granola with Greek yoghurt, freshly baked cakes, smoothies and munchies to enjoy with your drink later in the day. I hear that the Bia Mara team lent a hand with the choice of food on the menu, which can only mean one thing: success! I had a smoothie (orange, banana, coconut milk, turmeric) and the poached eggs on sourdough toast with smoked salmon and homemade tomato relish – both super fresh and delicious. Bonus points to Peck 47 for selling my favorite gluten-free Generous cookies (also available at Pistolet Original, ICI, AM Sweet and Farm).
If you find yourselves around the Grand Place, make a detour and stop by Peck 47. I’m already going back for cocktails and of course, brunch. Something tells me it may be soon added to my favorite brunch spots in Brussels!
