A DREAMY STAY AT THE MYCONIAN UTOPIA RESORT
These past couple of weeks I’ve been in full travel planning mode as I’m trying to organize everything for my upcoming trips, so I couldn’t help but reminisce one of the most special spots I’ve ever stayed in. As you probably remember from this post, Mykonos is one of my favourite Greek islands. Not only is it incredibly beautiful but there are also so many great places to discover. I’ve already shared a travel guide with all my tips about where to eat, shop and have fun, so it’s high time I revealed the ultimate place to stay in the island: the Myconian Utopia Resort.
Perched on a secluded hill overlooking the deep blue waters of Elia beach, the Myconian Utopia Resort is the crown jewel of the Myconian Collection Hotels and part of the Relais & Châteaux collection. I knew my partner in crime and I were in for a treat from the moment we arrived as we were welcomed with chilled glasses of champagne and cooling towels waiting for us at the beautiful lobby. Best feeling in the world on a hot summer day! Shortly after we checked in, we were taken on a little tour around the resort which really sealed the deal – this was going to be a fantastic holiday.
True to the Cycladic architecture, the hotel was a maze of bright white alleyways leading to the rooms and various common spaces. As I found out, the Myconian Utopia Resort was built with environmentally friendly techniques and I was positively surprised by how well it integrated with its surroundings, almost emerging from the rocky hills. The atmosphere was also great – chic, relaxed and luxurious all in one. The resort was not too big but it really had everything we needed: a beautiful infinity pool, an outdoor cocktail bar, a gym, a cute little boutique with clothes and accessories mainly from Greek designers, a restaurant and its very own spa where I had the most relaxing massage.
Our room was spacious, spotless clean, beautifully decorated and had the best sea views. Truth be told, I was worried it could be noisy as it also overlooked the pool area, this was not an issue throughout our stay. One of the things I really loved about the Myconian Utopia Resort was how relaxed it felt. We spent our days unwinding by the pool, soaking up the sun, listening to great tunes and sipping on cocktails. That’s not to say that we didn’t get to enjoy the sea too. All guests have access to the reserved beach area in Elia but we also took advantage of the great location to visit Lia, my absolute favourite beach in Mykonos, and have lunch at Liasti. As for dinner, we tried twice Utopia’s restaurant which was a treat (hello live saxophone music!) but also went back to old favourites in Chora, like Galleraki or Cine Manto, for drinks and movies. A special mention is due to the amazing breakfast – a great spread of sweet and savoury delicacies, including the most delicious Greek yoghurt with the yummiest toppings.
If you’re looking for a place in Mykonos where you can treat yourself to a relaxing holiday, make sure to stay in the Myconian Utopia Resort. It may be pricey indeed but don’t let the cost startle you; you’ll be rewarded with one of your best traveling experiences for sure.
