ESCAPE HUNT
As I’ve mentioned before, one of the unexpected benefits of blogging is that I’m constantly encouraged to try new experiences. One of the most fun things I got to discover lately in Brussels was Escape Hunt. If you’re into board games or are looking for a special group activity with your friends, family or colleagues, keep reading. I promise it’s a super entertaining concept!
Escape Hunt was first launched in Thailand in 2013 and brought to Brussels in late 2014. Ever since the venue, which is one of the largest of its kind in Europe, has accommodated more than a thousand players – quite an impressive number if you ask me but I can totally see why. Escape Hunt, which is a so-called “live escape game”, reminded me of Cluedo, the famous mystery board game. A team of two or more players get into a room full of cleverly hidden clues and try to solve a mystery within a set timeframe. No need to be of a certain age or really athletic to play – just bring your best mood and get ready to take up a challenge! There are different scenarios inspired from the city of Brussels you can choose from: “The Manneken Pis disappears”, “The Royal Palace is bombed”, and “Kidnapping at the Opera House”. I’m a sucker for anything that involves mystery solving (remember how much I enjoyed Maxine’s Murder Mystery Dinner?), so Escape Hunt was right up my alley!
So what is the actual game like? Our team of 4 was led to a room full of objects with the mission to find out who stole Manneken Pis and the secret password to open the exit door within 60 minutes. As we kept completing one challenge after the other and getting closer to the thief’s identity, I couldn’t help but feel like a young Hercule Poirot. The whole process of discovering evidence and solving riddles to find out whodunit was so exciting that I actually forgot it was just a game. I won’t reveal any more details as it would be a pity to spoil the surprise for you but what I can definitely say is that I had so much fun that I’m already going back for more – with my colleagues for a team building event this time.
After solving the mystery, we raised a glass of champagne in the lounge where the pictures below were taken to our wining team and posed for a group picture in our detective outfits. Hungry and still super excited about solving the mystery, we grabbed a bite at Knees to Chin and promised to get together really soon for another challenge. A really special evening with lots of laughter and many surprises that I would absolutely recommend to you too!
