ENTRE NOUS
When you discover a little gem in an area that seems like a foodie desert, it feels that you won the restaurant jackpot. That’s exactly the sentiment I had when I tried Entre Nous, a bio canteen close to Midi Station. And since good things are meant to be shared, let’s agree that we’re not going to keep this spot “between us”, ok?
Entre Nous is the labour of love of Sara, a young Italian lady passionate about cooking and sustainability. The space is warm and welcoming, like herself. A ray of sunshine in the otherwise grey area around the train station (well, with the exception the equally lovely Mammouth nearby). The interior is simply decorated, one part dedicated to dining around a long wooden table and the other serving as a little bio shop. Nothing fancy but this is one of the cases where it’s all about substance and not appearances.
Sara prepares recipes inspired by southern Italy using organic, seasonal and local products while trying to minimise waste – a great concept we could all learn from. The menu changes daily but you can always expect to find different options, like sandwiches, soups, pasta dishes, desserts and a veggie buffet. I tried the latter and was really pleased – slow food at its best! All ingredients used in the kitchen of Entre Nous are available to purchase, from legumes and olive oil to eggs, honey and chocolate. The suppliers are listed in the paper placemats and on the charcoal wall that features some of their produce.
A lovely spot for a healthy lunch, whether you are a vegetarian or not, on your way to Gare du Midi. If you happen to discover any other great spots in the area, do let me know leaving a comment below or on my Instagram with the #seemybrussels hashtag!
