VILLA PETRINA: A LITTLE GEM IN THE ISLAND OF AEGINA
As you’ve probably seen on my Instagram, I took a holiday in Greece a few weeks ago. My friends and I spent a couple of days in Athens and then headed to Aegina, a beautiful little island in the Saronic Gulf. Aegina is the closest island to Athens (only 30 mins by ferry), so it’s a great option if you don’t want to spend a lot of time (and money!) on a boat to get to the islands. Since we were a group of 10, we booked a villa which proved to be so amazing that I had to share it here on the blog!
I could tell that we were in for a great experience right from the moment we arrived. Theodore, the owner of the house, met us in Aegina Town and drove us to our home for the next week pointing on the way places of interests and the best foodie spots in the island. After a short ride (the property is located just 2km away from the centre), it seemed that we had arrived in paradise. Located in Pagoni village amidst olive and citrus trees, our villa was spacious, spotless clean, tastefully decorated and had the best views over Aegina town and the sea. Theodore and his wife Yolanda also surprised us with a welcome package which included homegrown vegetables from their garden, olive all, local wine and Aegina’s famous pistachios – Greek hospitality at its best!
The villa is very well equipped and offers privacy: each bedroom has its own bathroom, there’s an open-plan fully-fitted kitchen with dining area, a spacious living room with TV, various private balconies, free wifi and a big BBQ area with a foosball. We spent the next days relaxing by the pool, having BBQs while watching the sunset and exploring the colorful streets of Aegina. Thanks to the great location of the villa, we also had the chance to visit Klima beach, the ancient Temples of Apollo and Aphaia, Perdika and organize a mini trip to Moni. It was hard not to fall in love with the house and the island.
Villa Petrina is one of the best places I’ve ever stayed on holidays and cannot recommend it enough. It combined luxury and comfort – the pictures don’t do it justice! It’s ideal for families or a group of friends and great for a relaxing holiday in the Greek islands.
