MiTo

Pizza lovers, I have a great spot for you! A place so good that was immediately added to my favourite pizza spots in Brussels. And it doesn’t stop there. Besides pizza, you can also get really good cocktails, enjoy the all-Italian aperitivo or simply a glass of wine and antipasti. Did I mention the spacious terrace right opposite Tenbosch park? Yep, MiTo is a true winner!

MiTo, which is short for Milano-Torino, is yet another spot from Guy who has also launched Le Clan des Belges and Les fils à maman. The interior gets plenty of light and is an interesting combination of different elements that I happen to love, like exposed brick walls, leather seating, patterned tiles and a lovely bar overlooking the kitchen and the large oven.

The menu includes only ten different pizza toppings but you don’t need more. In fact, it will be hard to choose just one! On my first visit I went for the ‘Zucca e Guanciale’ with pumpkin cream, mozzarella, pig cheeks, caciocavallo and black pepper which was fantastic. Ever since I also got to try the very original one with stracciatella, yellow tomatoes and pistachio pesto (also highly recommended!) as well as the one with gorgonzola, mozarella and radicchio. You can really tell that the ingredients have been carefully selected to keep a balance between the different flavours. The quality is also there – regional top quality produce from Italy that are often products of protected origin (DOP) meet a very special dough. Slow rising and made from Pietra flour, the dough is light, as soft as it should be and easier to digest.

Before trying MiTo, a couple of people had recommended it as a great spot and now I totally see why. The hype is real folks. Give it a go and don’t forget to share your impressions with me on Instagram with the #seemybrussels hashtag!
