LE PETIT CANON
A few days ago I read in an article that if “Le Fabuleux destin d’Amélie Poulain” (one of my all-time favourite movies by the way) had taken place in Brussels, Le Petit Canon would be the perfect filming location. You know what? I couldn’t agree more.
Conveniently located in the corner of Lesbroussart and rue de Hennin, between Flagey and Avenue Louise, Le Petit Canon is a very relaxed wine bar where one can sit back and enjoy delicious tapas and wine at affordable prices. During the winter people head inside the small but cozy space, while on warmer days everyone’s outside on the sunny terrace watching people and trams go by. As much as I fancy its retro Parisian feel and spacious terrace (it’s actually a very close second to my favourite terraces in Brussels) what brings me back here time and again is the food. This proves right my theory that wine tastes better when shared with friends and accompanied by all kinds of nibbles, like charcuterie, olives, cheese, nuts, rillettes and last but not least, my absolute favourite: tomato tapenade spread over warm toasted bread.
If you’re looking for a relaxed place for after work drinks or a low key date, make sure you stop by Le Petit Canon. I’ve also heard that Le Petit Canon also offers à la carte brunch on Saturdays which I intend to try soon and let you know whether it made it to my “Best brunch spots in Brussels” list – stay tuned!
