DAMEJEANNE CAFE
When I first arrived in Brussels people kept telling me how it was evolving and improving. Fast forward a few years later, I’m also one of those who see our beautiful city changing and most of the times, in a positive way. So, when I found out that a new spot had opened in an area where there was not much else, I was excited to check it out hoping that it would be good enough to share it here on the blog.
Damejeanne Cafe is a wonderful addition to the area around the Kaaitheater which is quiet and unassuming. It sits in a corner of Boulevard d’Ypres that gets plenty of light and is great for people watching. The interiors are equally lovely – a cool mix of industrial and retro details that make it feel relaxed and welcoming. I love exposed brick walls and indoor plants (proof right here!), so it would be hard not to like this place!
Another reason to go back to Damejeanne Cafe would be the aperitivo – I mean, who doesn’t fancy delicious nibbles with their drink?! I still need to try this one but am a big fan of the concept and knowing that the owners are Italian, I have high hopes! What I did try though is the food – a panini on my first visit and then a hearty bowl of pasta on the day I returned with my camera to take pictures for the blog. Both were good, especially given the reasonable prices, although I expected something much less creamy when I ordered pasta with pesto. Would I go back? Yes, it’s a great place to catch up with a friend over coffee or go out with a larger group for a relaxed drink (or two!).
