RESTAURANT 360
Dubrovnik was amongst the prettiest cities I got to visit as part of my road trip across Croatia and Restaurant 360 was a particular highlight. After two weeks of discovery and adventure, my partner in crime and I wanted something special for our last meal of our holiday, so we figured that a Michelin-starred restaurant nestled within the Walls of Dubrovnik was not too bad an option!
Having made the reservation a whole month in advance, we arrived full of anticipation and upon entering an unassuming door, we found ourselves in the most beautiful setting: an elegant indoor dining room with an open kitchen and a wine cellar housing more than 450 wine labels from around the world. The real showstopper though, is the outdoor terrace that runs along the medieval walls and round the outside of the Fortress of St. John. We felt we’d totally lucked out when we were seated at one of the tables overlooking the Old Port and the isle of Lokrum. As it was getting dark, we watched the sunset while boats slid in an out of the harbour and flocks of swallows swooped and swirled together round the top of Dubrovnik’s iconic Bell Tower – it was pure magic!
The restaurant is only open for dinner and offers two five-courses tasting menus and à la carte options. Since we wanted to try as many dishes as possible, we opted for the two different set menus: Antologija (a selection of the chef’s signature dishes) and Republika (a modern take on the legacy of the Dubrovnik Renaissance). The kitchen is headed up by Marijo Curić, a Dubrovnik native, who combines harmoniously local tradition and French techniques. Dish after dish we loved how balanced tastes and textures were, and how well our waiter walked us through the thought process that went behind them.
