PATTY AND BUN
This is the story of a successful pop up store finding a permanent home in Central London and becoming the talk of the town for serving the finest burgers in town. Patty and Bun has won the hearts (and palates) of Londoners and out-of-towners, including mine: it is by far the best burger I’ve ever had!
Located just a stone’s throw from busy Oxford Street, seating no more than 30 diners and with a no-reservations policy, Patty and Bun is not a place for large groups or if you are in a hurry. Expect long queues pretty much any time throughout the day, but keep in mind that the food is absolutely worth the wait. The menu is quite short, so ordering doesn’t take long. What you really need to try is their signature cheeseburger, the “Ari Gold” – a messy yet delicious combination of Aberdeen Angus beef, melty cheese, smoky mayo, ketchup, lettuce and tomato, all sandwiched in a glazed brioche bun. A side of crispy, thinly-cut fries seasoned with rosemary sea salt is mandatory. And since you’re indulging anyway, go for the chicken wings too – sticky, crispy, covered with smoky BBQ sauce and sprinkled with spring onions, fantastic.
And since burgers, chicken wings and the like are meant to be enjoyed not in the most gracious manner, Patty and Bun has created a very laid back atmosphere, opting for a recycle-themed decor, old-school tunes and very friendly service – spot on if you ask me! One word: go!
