OSTERMALMS SALUHALL
Hej hej from Stockholm! As mentioned on my Twitter a few days back, I am spending the first part of my holidays in the Swedish capital, which is a true beauty! I’ve been impressed by the old buildings, colorful parks, Scandic design items and of course, the local delicacies. I had already pinned down a handful of places I wanted to explore before arriving and have discovered a few more during my stay, so it’s time to start sharing all of my favourite spots so far!
My very first stop was Östermalms Saluhall, Stockhom’s popular food hall. This gorgeous gourmet market was built in the 1880s and gathers some of the finest Swedish foodie products. Around 30 different traders offer la crème de la crème of Swedish cuisine with an emphasis on seafood.
After a quick round of all the various stalls, we had lunch at the restaurant of Lisa Elmquist, practically a Stockholm legend. We wanted to get a real taste of the local seafood specialties, so we went for this gorgeous platter, which included smoked and fresh shrimp, marinated and smoked salmon, smoked eel and scrambled eggs, skagen mix, crayfish mix, trout roe and bleak roe served with an assortment of mustards and fresh accompaniments. Everything was super fresh and extremely delicious and our waitress was extremely knowledgeable and kind (as the majority of Swedes we’ve met so far); I could not recommend this place enough!
