CAFE PINSON
Paris is indeed always a good idea; so does the Marais neighbourhood. Every corner is hiding a little surprise: great little shops, small colorful squares with character and of course Place des Vosges. If you happen to be in the area and are in the mood for a healthy-eating option, look no further – I have THE spot for you! Tucked away on a tiny side street near Square Temple, Cafe Pinson is a cute, hip place serving fresh organic food.
The venue is bright and inviting, but not necessarily the best choice for a super hot day (I learnt that the hard way!). I loved some of the details, especially the black and white geometric-patterned tables and the wicked chairs. The menu changes daily and all dishes are homemade and vegetarian (many of them also vegan and/or gluten-free too). Cafe Pinson works for many occasions: you can either have breakfast or an afternoon snack and work on your PC (wifi is free btw) or enjoy a 17€ three-course lunch menu.
I took a dear friend with me to try their famous Sunday brunch, which blew us away! After having a cup of chocolate with almond milk, we got a basket of homemade bread, chocolate spread and apricot jam together with the most delicious butter I have ever tasted, which was actually vegan. It was so good that we had to ask for a second round (and not even be embarrassed about it!). Next up, it was time for a plate of eggs, quinoa, lettuce salad and two different kinds of savoury madeleines. The quinoa was extremely tasty and seriously, I need to try making these madeleines at home!
By the time the dessert arrived, we were already full, but this didn’t stop us from devouring the whole thing: bio yoghurt with homemade granola and apple coulis plus another two madeleines, only sweet variations this time. Fresh, healthy, filling and delicious – Cafe Pinson was exactly what we needed for a lazy Sunday brunch!
