WAFFLE HOUSE
Whenever I visit Athens, I make sure I pay a visit to Waffle House. Apart from the obvious reason (read: major sweet tooth), the Waffle House branch in Vouliagmeni is one of my favourite hangouts because of its magical location. Vouliagmeni is a suburb south of Athens with a coastline so beautiful that has been named “Athenian riviera” (check here and here to get an idea of how gorgeous this area really is!).
In my books eating ice cream with a sea view is pure bliss and that’s why I keep going back to Waffle House despite the eventual long queues during the warmer months and weekends. But here patience is rewarded! Waffle House is famous for its light, crispy waffles and yummy homemade ice cream. There are various ice cream flavours and toppings to choose from, but when it comes to ice cream from Waffle House I do have my favourites: tsoureki (a traditional Greek brioche-like bread) and yogurt with wild cherry. And if you prefer to skip the waffle, try the homemade ice cream cones. I promise, one bite and you’ll become a regular, just like me!
