LIFE IS BEAUTIFUL (LIB)

Life is beautiful, especially when you spend it with friends and great cocktails – at least in my books! Brussels has been lacking good cocktail bars but this is changing slowly but surely. One of my latest favourite spots for drinks in town is LIB in the centre, not too far from MOK and La Belle Equipe.

LIB, which stands for “Life Is Beautiful”, was created back in 2015. What started as a monthly cocktail tasting which grew into a very successful nomadic cocktail bar that turned into a permanent establishment in downtown Brussels. Behind the bar you’ll find Harouna, a passionate mixologist who serves great cocktails with a smile and is always happy to hear what you like best. Beside him there’s Karoline who welcomes everyone and creates delicious finger food.

The space is small but cute with the bar being the focal point. It’s relaxed and unpretentious – the kind of place you would take your friends to relax and have a couple of drinks. On our visit my partner in crime and I had a seat at the bar and watched Harouna creating different kinds of cocktails using different spirits, liquers, spices, bitters and syrups, homemade for the most part. As you can tell from the pictures below, we had a lot of fun seeing him work his magic! 

After trying more cocktails that I’d like to admit, we said our goodbyes and promised to be back soon. New cocktails are added to the menu every week, so I guess that’s a really good reason to return! If you’re looking for a new spots for cocktails, do give LIB a try and let me know what you think.
