KAFFEENINI
One of the things I love about Brussels is that it’s so easy to take day-trips to other equally beautiful destinations both within and outside Belgium, like Lille, Bruges, Ghent or Antwerp. The latter is my favourite Belgian city when it comes to shopping and although I’ve been several times in the past, I haven’t shared much here on the blog – a mistake I’m planning to fix starting with Kaffeenini, one of the coolest coffee shops I’ve spotted in Antwerp.
Located on a pleasant square in a Antwerp’s Fashion District, Kaffeenini is founded by the owners of Barnini, another very successful cafe that’s worth checking out. It has a great sunny terrace in the front which is perfect for people-watching and a cosy interior that makes you feel welcome from the moment you step in. The decor is retro and playful with pretty details, like the colorful tassel garland, the wooden falls, vintage chairs and the racing bike hanging from the ceiling. Last time we were there my friend pointed out that Kaffeenini might as well be a hip cafe in Berlin and I think I agree with her. Maybe it’s not a coincidence that Annick, the owner has lived for a while there.
The only downside is that Kaffeenini can get very busy, so you may have to wait for a while before you get seated. Patience is rewarded though with free wifi, yummy bagels (I really like the Pink B) and loads of beverages to choose from. Ever since I started my barista course, I’m mostly keen on specialty coffee but this is rather a place to indulge. You will se what I mean in the pictures below! Next time I will definitely try their flammkuchen (or tarte flambée in French) which I first tried in Strasbourg and cannot get enough of.
If you’re looking for a place to catch up with friends or stretch your legs after a shopping marathon in Antwerp, Kaffeenini is a good option. More great spots in Antwerp are coming soon, so stay tuned!
