DRINKS BY THE POOL AT JAM HOTEL BRUSSELS
I may gush about Brussels a lot (case in point here and here, in case you need any proof!) but can totally see how the city could use more rooftop terraces or great cocktail bars. Sure, we do have Play Label Rooftop Bar and the summer pop up at Parking 58 but what if told you I spotted a new rooftop terrace where one can enjoy a drink right by a pool? Pretty exciting, right? If you follow me on Instagram or Snapchat this spot is already familiar but it was such a welcome addition that I just had to share it here on the blog too.
The old building of the St. Luke School of Architecture has been transformed into a modern hotel which houses a restaurant, two bars and an outdoor pool. The latter is all the way up on the top floor and heated to 28 degrees all year round. It’s meant to be used by hotel guests but it’s quite small anyway and open to the public to relax or have a drink. There are sundecks, not too many people (at least for now) and views over the city are pretty good. A bit of music in the background would be great too but the atmosphere is fun regardless. I did get to enjoy a couple of drinks with friends a few days ago by the pool and when it got a bit chilly, we moved to the indoor bar which is really cozy. There you’ll find a big comfy couch, a few tables and a fireplace which will be perfect come winter.
After a few good hours, we were hungry and went downstairs to the restaurant in search for dinner. Just like the rest of JAM hotel, the space is modern with concrete walls, wooden furniture and colorful artifacts. The kitchen is run by chefs Vincenzo Marino and Giambattista Suizzo of Vini Divini, so the menu features everyone’s favourite Italian specialties, namely pizza and pasta. We were a large group of friends, so we had four different pizzas which were good but did not make my “Best pizza spots in Brussels” list. Next time, I’m also eager to spend some time at the game room in the basement which seemed like a lot of fun.
If you’re looking for a place to hang out on a warm sunny day, the rooftop of JAM Hotel is a great option. Lay down, relax, enjoy a drink (or two!) at one of the best terraces in Brussels and don’t forget to send me a picture on Instagram with the #seemybrussels hashtag. I bet you won’t want to leave!
