CIPIACE
The neighbourhood of Saint-Gilles in Brussels has really started growing on me as I keep discovering great places I return to, like La Bottega della Pizza, Parlor Coffee, Chouconut, Oma and more recently, Chana and Hopla Geiss. Not too long ago another spot was added to the lot, Cipiace.
Located in the heart of the Parvis of Saint-Gilles, Cipiace is a cute cafe – bar which fits all concepts really: coffee throughout the day, light lunch around noon, afternoon aperitivo with a complimentary buffet, cocktails in the evening and last but not least, Sunday brunch. As you have probably guessed from the name, the owners of Cipiace are Italian which means that this is a great spot to have a proper cappuccino – tried, tested, approved! I am also a fan of their aperitivo, a very Italian ritual which comprises pre-dinner drinks and light nibbles. There were already a few spots doing aperitivo in Brussels, including Gazzetta and Piola Libri, so I’m really glad that Cipiace joined in. Food-wise get ready to try Italian specialties done right, like pasta, delicious bruchette, mozzarella and grilled vegetables and focaccia. And now let’s talk about my favourite thing (yep, you guessed right!), brunch: an all-you-can eat buffet with coffee and a drink. Pictures coming soon, watch this space!
What I really love about this place, aside from its sunny terrace on the Parvis of course, is how unpretentious it is despite all the good things that take place there. The atmosphere is super relaxed, the staff nice and there’s always some cool art exhibited on the walls plus the giant artwork of Farm Prod, a Brussels-based art collective. Definitely a place to return to.
