BOOT CAFE

Those who follow me on Instagram may have seen that I’ve just been back from a lovely weekend in Paris (and miss it already!). No matter how often I go back, I feel there’s not enough time to revisit old favourite spots and try some new ones. But this time I prioritized and made sure to cross Boot Cafe off my list right away. See Paris’ coffee scene is underway a revolution and I’m on a mission to track down some of its greatest spots which include Cafe Kitsune and Ob-La-Di. 

Housed in what used to be a shoe repair shop, this tiny coffee bar in the Marais is aptly named Boot Cafe. Stepping into this hole-in-the-wall cafe makes you feel as if you’re actually squeezing into a shoe box but as they say, good things come into small packages. The owners, furniture designer Phil Euell and Elsa Dahan, have done a wonderful job renovating the space into a charming little nook with white-tiled walls, colourful chairs, fresh flowers and a marble counter where the baristas work their magic. I also love that the owners chose to keep the original blue facade with the “Cordonnerie” sign – isn’t it lovely?

Boot Cafe supplies its coffee from Belleville Brûlerie, a micro-roaster you can find close to the Buttes-Chaumont park in Paris. As the sign on the wall indicates “these coffees are made for walking” but my friends and I decided to stay a for a little while. Since both tables inside were already taken, we happily grabbed our seats on the quiet little terrace and enjoyed our cortado “sur place”. Having already passed by the nearby Marché des Enfants Rouges we were pretty full but that didn’t stop us from scoffing down a freshly-baked scone with apricot jam and a slice of cake.
