BON JOUR BRUXELLES

Regular readers of the blog know by now that I am a huge fan of brunch. After trying many different places around Brussels, I have already come up with a list of  my favourite brunch spots but am equally excited to include new addresses to my ever-expanding Brussels Brunch Guide. A few weeks back I was invited to attend the first Homemade Brunch of Bon Jour Bruxelles and as soon as I posted a little preview on Instagram, I knew you were very curious to find out all the details.

Bon Jour Bruxelles is created by Silvia Galli who has set up a beautiful space primarily used for co-working (just like La Recre Cafe) but also for other creative events like live concerts, pop up shops and the Homemade Brunch. Although it’s small, I loved the design of the place – warm, cute and with attention to all the pretty little details.

When my partner in crime and I arrived, we found the long communal table in the centre of the room filled with aprons, recipes and all the ingredients we needed to start cooking. Yep, normally all I need to do to enjoy brunch at a restaurant is to show up but this time I would have to work for it! All dishes were inspired by Autumn, so Silvia had selected seasonal ingredients that looked fresh and very tempting. Since the group was quite big (around 14 people) we split in teams and started cooking together to create one sweet and one savoury dish each.

After three good hours of preparations, countless laughs and interesting conversations while cooking, we were ready to set the table and enjoy the fruits of our labour. Knowing that we prepared from scratch all this delicious food made the whole experience really rewarding and the fact that the table setting was so pretty was just the icing on top. Having said that, at the end we were all pretty tired so it would be probably best to go in a smaller group or make fewer dishes. A big thanks to Silvia who was there to help us with everything we needed and replied to all our questions with a smile!

Bon Jour Bruxelles is a great spot if you are a freelancer looking for a pretty place to work from that will spark your creativity. In case you’re interested in joining the Homemade Brunch, keep an eye on the website for the exact dates and feel free to gather your friends to create your own group. It was fun and really yummy!
