5 DESTINATIONS I’D LIKE TO VISIT AGAIN
It’s no secret that travelling is one of my absolute favourite things and I’m sure I’m not alone in this, right? It’s really exciting that every turn makes a new memory and getting to know places has made me see life through a unique lens. As part of my New Year resolutions, I’ve started to put together my travel plans for 2017 and thought I’d share with you some truly great destinations I’d like to visit again!
1. MEXICO
Mexico was love at first sight. When I first visited a couple of years ago, I was eager to try authentic Mexican food but in the end, it was the warmth of the locals and natural beauty that conquered my heart. On my first trip I explored the Yucatan peninsula and got to see amazing places, like Cancun and Tulum but would also like to discover Mexico city or Los Cabos, two destinations that always come highly recommended by travellers.
2. THE NETHERLANDS
Living in Belgium, I have visited the Netherlands on a number of occasions. You probably don’t know it but I actually lived there in The Hague for a little while too. The Netherlands is one of those destinations that pop to mind whenever I have no fixed plans and want to take a short trip and luckily, there are so many beautiful places to visit there! Amsterdam is typically atop of travellers’ lists but other cities, like Rotterdam, Utrecht and Giethoorn are also worth including in your itinerary. And if you’re looking for a fun plan, make sure to check Weekendesk – they offer many different weekend packages which include hotel breaks and activities for the weekend.
3. IRELAND
I still haven’t shared with you pictures from my trip to Dublin (they’re coming soon, I promise!) but was so positively surprised by the genuine warmth of people, great beer and music, that I’ve made a mental note to go back. The Cliffs of Moher as well as the Giant’s Causeway are high on my travel bucket list but am open to any other great tips you may have!
4. SPAIN
Spain is a place I would love to live in for a while at some point in the future. I first got to know it through my Spanish friends who are amongst the nicest people I’ve ever met. You could say I’m slightly biased but I’m sure you’ll agree that it’s an amazing country with loads of different things to see and experience! So far I’ve visited Madrid, Barcelona, Toledo, Seville, Cordoba, Malaga and Granada which were all wonderful and now I’m curious to explore the Basque Country.
5. FRANCE
France feels almost like home. Having studied there and spent some of the best years of my life, I use any possible excuse to go back very often. I’m really lucky both Paris and Lille are only a short car/train ride away from Brussels but am equally partial to Strasbourg, the Alsace region, Nice and last but not least, Saint-Malo and Mont Saint-Michel. The truth is I’ve been dreaming of taking a road trip through Provence and keep my fingers crossed that I’ll be able to make it happen this summer!
Are there any destinations you’d love to visit again and if so, why? Feel free to share, travel inspiration is always welcome!
